During this 2 hour workshop you will learn the fun and versatile art of bargello embroidery. Using plastic canvas, super chunky yarn and a needle, you will create a vibrant and funky pot cover..

Bargello is a type of needlepoint embroidery, and uses upright flat stitches to create striking patterns and motifs. It is fun, and can be used to create vivid and dynamic patterns. 

All the materials you need will be provided, including a metal pot which you will create your cover around. You can use the pot for flowers, utensils, stationary or just as an ornament! 

Please note you will not complete the cover during the actual workshop, but you will take the pattern and all the materials you need to finish your project at home.

Hand stitch your own recycled paper notebook in this 2 hour workshop

Our fab host Pat Mumby will guide you through the steps to create a lovely, unique accordion booklet, approximately 6" x  4"  (152 mm x 102 mm,. These are beautiful, tactile items, and can be used in various ways such as to display small photos, as a sketchbook or journal, or even just as a decoration. Or a great gift for someone!

The booklet is constructed from a single sheet of card, or a series of joined sheets and folded into a zig-zag pattern, with sewn in pages, hard front and back cover and completed with a ribbon tie. There will be a selection of decorative paper and different card for you to chose from.

This workshop is a great introduction for those new to bookmaking.

During this 2 hour session you’ll get to make your very own egg cup and plate from scratch, with guidance from our lovely host Jenny. After making the basic shapes you can really get creative and personalise your cup and plate - grab a paintbrush and off you go!

At the end of the workshop your finished piece will be taken away to be fired. Once this is done we’ll let you know and you can collect it from Maker Mart to be used and loved at home.

This is a great opportunity to have a go at working with clay. The workshop is primarily tailored for children but adults are also welcome.

In this creative workshop, you will learn the fundamental technique of tissue transfer, commonly applied in collage and decoupage. Our focus will be on vintage seaside photographs, which we will transfer onto pebbles.

During the workshop we will be using paint and Mod Podge, a sealant and varnish, to paste images onto the pebbles. It is fun and can be a bit messy please bring an apron to avoid getting your clothes dirty!

Original photographs will not be used. We will photocopy them before transferring the images onto tissue paper.

All materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring along any photos of your choice to give a uniqueness and a personal touch to your artwork. These could include old family photos for example. You are also encouraged to go for a nature walk on the beach somewhere and search for your perfect pebble beforehand. A light-couloured, flat surfaced pebble is idea.
